iPlayer bundled with Nokia
The BBC´s online streaming video application iPlayer will be available on mobile for the first time as the broadcaster teams up with Nokia
Bundled with Nokia´s latest N96, iPlayer will be available from October 1st.
The iPlayer has also been beta tested on Apple´s iPhone and the official release is imminent, according to industry insiders.
Matthew Postgate, director of mobile for the BBC, said: "It´s as close to the PC version as it can get and it will become better in some ways."
He added: "The [idea] is to move rich media on mobile forward."
The mobile version of the BBC´s iPlayer will allow users to connect through both 3G and Wi-Fi and stream video content as well as download it.
According to the Guardian, on demand multi-media services offered by the BBC, like the iPlayer, may force the government to review the broadcaster´s current licence fee model.
