Yahoo! informs EU of Google deal
Yahoo! has informed the European Union´s antitrust authorities of a deal it has struck with Google, it has been reported.
According to Computerworld, the agreement will only come into effect in the US and Canada but the company´s spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler said the firm was acting in the "spirit of cooperation".
It has been suggested that the two companies may be choosing to lay the groundwork with the European commission (EC) for an extension of the deal in the European market.
Anthony Sabino, professor of law and business at St John´s University in New York, told the newsprovider he though the two companies are being "overly protective" in order to stave off an EC investigation.
"But the more I think about it, I´m getting suspicious," he added.
IDG recently reported that the US department of justice is investigating the partnership between Yahoo! and Google.
