US search rankings still dominated by Google
Google continued its dominance of US search engine rankings last month, new figures have revealed.
According to data released on Monday (April 7th) by Hitwise, the online competitive intelligence service, 67.25 per cent of all US searches were accounted for by Google in the four weeks ending March 29th, 2008.
This figure represents an increase of 0.81 per cent compared with Google´s share in February 2008 and a year-on-year increase of 3.12 per cent.
Coming second and third in the March rankings for leading search engine providers, Yahoo! Search and MSN Search received a 20.29 per cent and 6.65 per cent share respectively.
Ask.com accounted for 4.09 per cent of all US searches, representing a 0.7 per cent decrease on its share in February 2008.
In terms of industry categories, over the last 12 months travel, entertainment, business, finance and sports all experienced double-digit increases in their share of traffic coming directly from search engines.
