Sony Ericsson to launch music service
Mobile phone manufacturer Sony Ericsson is to launch a new music downloads site to rival Nokia´s Comes With Music service, according to Tech Digest.
The news provider believes the service will be subscription based and will offer unlimited music downloads.
Sony Ericsson has been trialling a similar service in Scandanavia called PlayNow which allows mobile phone users to download tracks for 99 pence.
Duncan Greene from Tech Digest said: "It doesn´t take a genius to work out that this is the slightly panicked reaction to Nokia´s Comes With Music service."
"They´ll likely tie it into their Walkman brand, which people often describe as powerful," he added.
In other news, Sony Ericsson has become the first sponsor of the MOBO music awards and will be releasing a special MOBO branded handset exclusive to Carphone Warehouse.
The gold and white MOBO edition of the W910i Walkman handset will be available in the run up to Christmas.
