Poor user experience ´is a big price to pay for SEO´

15 January 2009

Poor user experience ´is a big price to pay for SEO´ Creating a website that offers poor user experience as a result of search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques is a poor trade off, it has been claimed.

Writing for Search Engine Watch, Eric Enge said the practice would boost short-term traffic but would end up lowering conversion rates and driving traffic from the site in droves.

He said: "Too many people get SEO in their mind and lose sight of the other, more important goal: creating a good user experience."

Mr Enge claimed that training website editors in the use of keyword tools such as Wordtracker and Keyword Discovery can ensure they produce internet content that uses words that people are searching for.

However, he added: "Don´t pervert their purpose by filling their heads with stories about how stuffing keywords throughout their article will help the business."

In related news, Richie Jones of Bristol-based ad agency Yucca claims a business blog should be at the centre of firm´s SEO efforts, reports MyCustomer.com.
