Number of US searches increases in January
The number of internet searches conducted in America increased between December and January, it has been revealed.
According to figures published recently by comScore, there was a nine per cent increase in US searches from December, with consumers conducting more than ten billion core searches last month.
The search market share of Google Sites edged up slightly during this period, increasing by 0.1 per cent to reach 58.5 per cent.
Yahoo Sites came in second place with 22.2 per cent, but saw its market share fall by 0.7 per cent between December and January.
Microsoft Sites saw a zero per cent change in its market share.
All of the five core search engines saw conducted search numbers increase by at least five per cent during this period.
Google Sites was also found to lead the rankings in US expanded search, attracting 7.7 billion searches.
Again, Yahoo Sites ranked second with almost 2.5 billion searches, while Microsoft Sites received 1.1 billion searches.
