Nokia in ´iPhone challenge´
Mobile phone manufacturer Nokia is set to challenge Apple´s smartphone supremacy with its own touchscreen device, it has been reported.
The new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic comes with 8GB of memory and will be available before Christmas for around £225.
The pay-as-you-go version of the phone will be bundled with a 12 month subscription to the company´s unlimited music downloads service Comes With Music.
Tero Ojanpera, executive vice-president and head of the Nokia entertainment and communities business, said: "Comes With Music sets a precedent for consumer value and convenience that the rest of the digital entertainment industry is already copying."
He added that the service gives users unlimited access to millions of tunes that users can download and keep.
According to the Guardian, Nokia is gambling on the fact that users given unlimited access to music downloads sites do not always use the service heavily.
Companies which have signed op to Comes With Music include EMI, Sony BMG, Universal and Warner Music.
