New online video advertising platform launched
A new online video advertising platform has been launched as a direct rival to Google´s Adsense service.
The blinkx AdHoc facility places online text advertisements against videos downloaded by web users from sites suck as YouTube and Daily Motion.
And the service offers financial rewards to users who download any video which contains embedded advertising content.
Suranga Chandratillake, founder and chief executive of blinkx, said: "The dramatic growth of online video has been driven by a global audience - individuals who are creating and distributing user-generated content.
"We wanted to reward people for the role they played in sharing and promoting video legally on the web," he added.
blinkx was launched in 2005 as a video search engine and now powers the video search for three of the US´s top five search providers.
