Growth in video website use due to improved content
Video websites are becoming increasingly popular with internet users, owing to easier access and the improvement of content quality.
That is according to Jack Wallington, programmes manager at the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB), who asserted that "video is now a part of everyday online culture".
Explaining the growth in video website use, he said that people had become more "aware of the advantages of video".
Mr Wallington commented: "The video players themselves have become easier to access and use, while broadband has made the videos bigger and of higher quality.
"As a result, people that use the internet are now aware of the advantages of video, they know how to use online video players and have an excellent experience."
Between February 2007 and the same month in 2008, use of video websites among UK internet consumers increased by 178 per cent, according to a report by Hitwise.
