Google leads Canadian web rankings
Google Sites became the most-visited web-property in Canada for the first time last month, it has been revealed.
According to new figures released by comScore, the global internet information provider, Google sites moved up from second to first place in the January Canadian web rankings.
The property received some 22,440 unique visitors, giving it a 16,000 visitor lead over nearest rival Microsoft Sites.
Yahoo Sites came third in the January rankings, attracting 16,481 unique visitors, while Facebook came fourth with 15,354 visitors.
The top gaining property was revealed to be travel site Softvoyage.com, which experienced a 53 per cent growth between December and January.
Brent Bernie, president of comScore Media Metrix, commented: "January isÂ…an active time of year for visiting government entities both on the provincial and federal level, which provides Canadians with the necessary information and tools for preparing for a busy RRSP and tax season.
"Finally, the extreme cold weather and record breaking snow levels in Canada have driven us to travel entities on the Web in hopes of finding warmer destinations."
