Google dominates UK market
Google was the most visited internet property in the UK in August, underlying how the site still dominates the search marketing world.
Research by comScore showed that the search engine giant was the most visited property in August - with 28.3 million unique visitors age 15 or older. This means that the site reached 89 per cent of the total UK internet audience.
Microsoft´s sites attracted 26.8 million unique visitors, giving it a 83 per cent reach. However, Microsoft lost 0.7 per cent over the month.
Another search engine, Yahoo!, grew by 1.3 per cent over the month and now challenges eBay as the third most vistited site by UK visitors.
A statement from comScore added: "Facebook.com was the fastest growing property in the UK. The social networking site grew 18.3 per cent in August to reach just under nine million unique visitors.
"The site has experienced a dramatic 2,167 per cent growth within the UK since September 2006, when it made the decision to open up registration to the general public."
Recently, Facebook announced that it would offer online advertisers a new cost per click (CPC) internet advertising system.
