Digital marketing ´to increase in 2009´

19 January 2009

Digital marketing ´to increase in 2009´ The use of digital marketing is expected to increase during 2009, according to one industry expert.

Mark Leversedge, founding partner at digital marketing agency Elvis has told Precision Marketing that pressures on businesses´ "sales and budgets" will lead to a greater investment in building their "existing customer relationships".

He added that a larger role in direct marketing will be played by promotions, stating that consumers will expect "fantastic deals and incentives" over the next 12 months.

Mr Leversedge warned however that companies which do not offer "leading edge digital direct solutions" will most likely "lose out".

The expert said: "In tough times investing in customers you know to secure a greater share of wallet is often smarter than spending hard cash chasing new ones who will be making purchasing decisions more carefully than ever and be less inclined to experimentation."

Rand Fishkin from SEOmozBlog recently claimed that firms wanting to increase traffic to their website should adopt an "any and all" approach to the use of keywords.
