Advertisers rate SEO as top performer
Search engine optimisation (SEO) delivers the greatest return on investment (ROI) out of all online advertising channels.
That is according to a survey conducted recently by MarketingSherpa at the ad:tech trade show, which found that over half of participants (57 per cent) cited SEO as the top performing advertising channel.
This represents an increase on the results of last year´s survey, when 45 per cent of respondents cited SEO.
In the recent poll, email (house list) and paid search ads were also named as top performers.
At the bottom of the pile, a mere seven per cent of marketers said that email (rented lists) delivered the best ROI.
MarketingSherpa commented: "Paid search continues to be a strong money maker for more than a third of the marketers surveyed, but that number is down steeply from the previous year.
"The decline reflects an increase in competition that raises keyword prices and lowered ROI.
"SEO continues to increase in popularity. Its low costs and high returns make it a leader among more than half of the marketers surveyed."
