´Advertisers fear Google-Yahoo! tie up´
A group representing advertisers has written to the American Justice Department to voice its concerns over the marketing deal between Google and Yahoo!
The Association of National Advertisers (ANA) asked the US government, which is considering taking action, to block the deal.
Meanwhile, two other industry groups, the American Association of Advertising Agencies and the International Advertising Association, have asked the Justice Department to mount an investigation into the tie-up, which would see Google providing some of Yahoo!´s search advertising.
Commenting on the deal, which could generate as much as $450 million of extra income for Yahoo! in the first year, Rick Aristotle Munarriz, writing for fool.com, said: "It´s easy to see why advertisers would be upset. It´s real money out of their pockets if Yahoo! can generate more money off its pages."
Google responded to the ANA with a letter suggesting the deal should be allowed to go ahead before its impact on advertising is judged.
